Mesopotamia
Location: In the text it said that in the middle east two great rivers flowed south. Also the text states that "most of Ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern Iraq". Today much of the area consists of hot desert, but in the past, the land was fertile. (Steele 6)
Religion: In the text it says that the Sumerians believed that the stars were the cows of sin. Also the text states that every city worshiped different gods. The Babylonians worshiped Enki as Ea. ( Steele 14 )
Architecture: In the text it said that a Ziggurat is a massive terraced platform. Also the text states that the Ziggurats looked like the stepped pyramids in ancient Egypt. Ziggurats played a part in sacred percents. ( Steele 24 )
Government: The text said that babylon is first mentioned more than 4,300 years ago.The text said "by 1900 BCE it ha been taken over by the amurrou (Or amorites)." In the text it said the greatest ruler was King Hammurabi. Whom rained from 1729 to 1750 BCE. (Steele- 30)
Writing: The Mesopotamians used these wet clay slabs with sharp sticks to record stuff. At first they used pictures to represent objects. Then they used the clay tablets to make it easier. They didn't start writing anything until around 3000 BC. (Steele 12)
Art: In the text it said that the people would treat hunting more as a ritual. This is because growing and crops became the chief source for food. Rulers of these cities would do these ritual hunts to show bravery and superiority. The animals used in the rituals would range from wild bulls or lions. These animals were used because they were associated with the legends of Gilgamesh. Really a king needed little skill to do these hunts, the kings life was never put in danger. ( Steele 28 )
Ancient Egypt
Location: In the text it said that the people of Egypt lived along the Nile, where they expected floods to fertilize the land. The Egyptians also lived on canals extending from the Nile. This area was called the "Black land" which was named after the dark silt that helped the farmers grow their crops. (Hart 8)
Government
Religion: In the text it said the ancient Egyptians were polytheistic. According to the text "Its of the fourth two different administrative districts ( or "momes" ) had its own god, and there were many others besides. Overall, the sun god was the dominant dirty in Egyptian religion, although he could take different forms.The author wrote the pharaoh akhenten viewed to vanish other gods. His son restored them again. (Hart 24)
Architecture: in the text it said the first pyrimidine was built around 2650 BCE. This was a step pyrimidine. This was supposed to show how the pharaoh would go up to the sun god to meet with him for the afterlife.

Commerce/Trade: According to the text the trade routes on the silk road were safe for merchants to travel even with the mongols around. Silks, spices, tea, porcelain dishware and lacquerware. Though the Mongol rule they decided what they wanted produced and ignored Chinese advisors. (Cotterelle 58)
Government: In the text it said around 221 B.C.E was when the Quin dynasty was made. In the paragraph it said that the first Quin was not the best Emporer. He used his subjects like slaves and laborers. Before he died he ordered the construction of the first bit of the great wall of China, he also had a army of 2,000 terricotta soldiers to protect him in the after life. (Cotterelle 16)

Technoligy: The author stated that in 6th century China canals were built to transport water and rice from the yellow river to urban cities and towns. During this time ying and hang were introduced. They thought that everything bad like floods and earthquakes happened because they did something to upset the land. They kept the canals flows Natrual and never terriformed the rivers. (Cotterelle 38)
Art: In the text it said that raw rescourcs for art were highly valuable in China. Many crafts came from skilled artisans in mass producing work places. Artisans were well thought of in china. (Cotterele 56)
Writing : An example of writing is the oracle bone Which was used by Shang kings. Individuals would burn the oracle bone, it would crack and answer questions about their ancestors. These were created from ox bone or tortorise shells. (Cotterele 11)
Location: In the text the author talked about Ancient China. He said Ancient China was cut off from other cultures and civilizations. This meant that they were very focused on their own culture and people. Ancient China did not realize that there were other civilizations until 216 B.C.
