Locations: In the text it said that in the middle east 2 great rivers flowed South. Also the text states that "most Ancient Mesopotamia lay within the orders of modern Iraq." Today much more of the area consists of hot deserts, but in the past, the land was fertile. (Steele 6)
Religion: In the text it said they where polytheistic. Polytheistic is when a civilization worships many gods. I know this because the text says "They believe in the horned moon God Nanna and they believed that shooting star where cows of sin." Also saying that hey have many gods including, Ninhursag, Nintu, Nammu, Nippur, and ishtar. (Steele 14)
Architecture: In the text it said that a Ziggurat is a massive terraced platform. Also the text states that the Ziggurats looked like the stepped pyramids in Ancient Egypt. Ziggurats played a part in sacred percents. ( Steele 24)
Government: In the text it said that they had a lord, governor, and a king. In the text it states that the reins of each dynasty were recorded on clay tablets. In the text it also said that everybody was expected to go into the military except the women. (Steele 10)
Art: One page 28 it says that in 3500 BCE they created pottery in the middle east. In the text it said "they created the potters wheel which made potter production more efficient." They created Bedouin which women did for over 4,000 years. (Steele 28)
Writing: In the text it said that the mesopotamians used wet clay slabs with sharp sticks to record events. At first they used pictures to represent objects. Then they used clay tablets to make it easier. They didn't start writing till 3300 BC. (Steele 12)
