Mesopotamia
Location,On page six it said that Mesopotamia is located within the borders of what is today Iraq. Also I know that "two great rivers flow southward through the middle east." Within Mesopotamia, there was a cooler mountain range in the north and wetlands in the southeast. (Steele 6)
Religion,On page 14 it said "the sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses. The gods represented different things like water,wisdom and the moon. They wrote on clay to show their worship and dedication to the gods using pictures and Cuneiform. (Steele 14)
Architecture,On page 24,It says that a Ziggurat is a lasting symbol of ancient mesopotamia. A Ziggurat is a big terraced platform made of mud and straw bricks. "Ziggurats looked similar to the stepped pyramids of ancient Egypt, which were used as royal tombs, but they served a different purpose". ( Steele 24)
Government,On page 10 it said "the Sumerians own name for their territory may have meant land of the civilized lords". The rulers liked having power and being famous amongst sumerians. The rulers were given special clothing like hats and special made items. (Steele 10)
Art,On page 28 it says that the Mesopotamians mastered many crafts and technology early in history. Also I know that "sometime between 3500 BCE, they invented the potter's wheel". The Mesopotamians had very many different arts and crafts they were making inventions and a whole lot of other things. ( Steele 28)
Writing,On page 12, It says that when the first cities arose,individuals began to require records of business, ownership deals, and government. The Sumerians made the worlds first script or writing system called Cuneiforms. "At first they used picture symbols to represent objects such as cattle,grain,or fish". (Steele 12)

Ancient China
Religion: On page 12 it said that "That increacing of turmoil led to confucious o develop a new moral outlook." The new moral look out was based on kindness respect and strenght of the faimly. Finally, he believed that you should treathim witth respect and obey the ruler. (Cotterell 12)
Government: On page 18 it said the earliest members of the imperial civil service were recruited from Gaozu. The first Han emperor. And "Gaozu was uneducated, when he came to power he realized the empire needed educated administrators." (Cotterell 18)
Technology: On page 22 it says "Through China's history emperors have encouraged others to the development of science and technology." Also, in the middle ages many Chinese people invented the silk road. Finally, there was the "Earthquake Weather Clock" that could tell where an earthquake was. (Cotterell 22)
Art:On page 56 it said China has always been recognized for their arts and crafts. They would use bronze, jade, silk, lacquer, and porcelain for statues and royalty crafts. These would be made from talented merchants who would sell their own work.
Location:On page 6 it said "China is the world's largest continuous civilization." Because of its massive deserts and mountains, China was isolated for centuries and didn't discover other major civilizations until 126 B.C. Great thinkers like Confucius taught people to prioritize family and live an organized life. (Pg. 6, Cotterell)
Writing:
WRITING:On page 11 it said that " shang kings used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits." In order to find out answers to questions, the ox bone or tortoise shell was scorched until it cracked. Finally, the answers inscribed on the oracle bone. (Cotterell 11)
Commerce:On page 58 it said that from 1279 to 1368 the Mongol empire ruled China, and they permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their empire. Then they would go to the Silk Road that ran all through Asia. Also they would trade stuff like silk, spices, tea, porcelain, and lacquerware. (Cotterell 58)
