Mesopotamia
Location: On page 6 it said that Mesopotamia is located within the borders of what is today Iraq. Also we know that "two great rivers flow southward through the Middle East." Within Mesopotamia, there was a cooler mountain range in the north and wetlands in the southeast. (Steele 6)
Religion: the sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses such as the moon god, Enik and Enlil the father of the gods. and they believed in demons, spirits and ghosts. and they thought that shooting stars were the cows of sin. (steele 14)
Architecture:On page 24 it says Ziggurats is "A massive terraced platform made of brick. It represents a mountain, stretching from earth to heaven." It also said on page 24 They had small temples that were reached by long stairways to get to the top. (Steele 24)
Writing:The ancient mesopotamians made writing for government and trading. For their writing they used a lot of pictographs and symbols. Archeologists call this Cuneiform (wedge shaped) writing. (Steele 12)
Art: On p
age 28 it said that they use clay to make textbooks for priests, they also used a boulder to record the granting of farmland in south Babylonia. Also we know that "This clay sheep's liver, found at Mari, was a sort of textbook for priests." They also made a pocket sized jewelry maker, which is used to make trinkets, this thing dates back to 1900 BCE or earlier. (Steele 28)
Government: On page 16 it said that society was dividing into social classes, there were rulers, priests, administrators, the craftworkers, and the mechants, different people moved into these cities because the center of it was government and trade. Also we know that "Cities were protected by massive walls with gates, and by moats." This shows that the government of Mesopotamia was very protective, that important people were in the dividing cities, and that these cities were guarded by large structures like walls, gates, and moats. (Steele 16)

Ancient China
commerce/trade: The author wrote In ancient china for trades they would make a route called the silk road which would help them make trades . The text said "Trade flourished under the Mongol(Yuan) empire dynasty . The trade route helped merchants and explorers get goods for example "Chinese merchants amassed large fortunes by exporting luxury goods such as silk,spices,tea, porcelain and lacquerware.(cotterell 58)
location:The author wrote that "China was the first united as a single state in 221 B.C by the first emperor. Also another fact that was in the text was "The great wall, seen at the top of the map ,was built in 214 B.c and linked with the city walls" This shows how large it was. ( Cotterell 6)
Art:In the text it said that the people of Ancient china cherished luxury goods like bronze ,jade and silk. Also The author wrote "China has always been renowned for its exquisite art and crafts. Finally "china is famous for high quality ceramics" (Cotterell) 56)
religion:The chinese people believed in dragons a lot. The author wrote " The ancient chinese people believed that dragons inhabited every river ,lake and sea and also lived high in the sky among the rain clouds". Also The author says "The chinese dragon is a terrifying thing but it represents wisdom,strength and goodness.(Cotterell 17)
technoligy: in the text it talks about how ancient chinese people had a lot of new inventions for there time such as paper money, clock work, silk, porcelain, fireworks, kites, umbrellas, and wheelbarrows. also the Author wrote ¨in the middle ages many chinese inventions were carried along the silk road¨. (Cotterell 22)
writing: on page 11 it said that ¨shang kings used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits.¨ in order to find out answers to questions, the ox bone or tortoiseshell was scorched until it cracked. Finally, the answers were inscribed on the oracle bone. (Cotterall 11)
government: Ancient china had an empire which means they had an emperor that ruled the empire. The passage said "In 221 B.C the chinese empire formed and a leader named zheng appeared. Also the graphic shows that " Zheng created a tomb guarded by many terracotta soldiers". (Cotterell 58)
