Ancient China
Commerce (Trade): In the text, it states that the Yuan Dynasty and the Mongols started trading. Chinese merchants would travel on the silk road and trade things like tea, spices, etc. Merchants were allowed to go on the Silk Road and it went across Northern China through Asia. (Cotterell 58)
Government: In the text it states "In 221 B.C, the Chinese emperor was formed." The emperor had people be slaves and he forced them to build the Great Wall of China. In the text it also states that he built a tomb because he thought he would still be powerful in the afterlife. (Cotterell 16)
Religion: In the text, it states that religion in China, the religious beliefs were divided in 3 different ways. The text says "Although there were disagreements over religious principles, few people were prosecuted for their beliefs." This shows that the religion in China was seprated. (Cotterell 26)
Technology: It states in the text "Some of the world's greatest Inventions came from China." Some inventions were paper money, fireworks, etc. They also made gunpowder which changed the way they fought in battle. (Cotterell 22)
Art: In the text, it states that China has always been renowned for exquisite arts and crafts. Some goods that they had made were Chinese Bronze, silk, jade, porcelain, and lacquer. They considered peasant farmers important of society do to their making of luxury goods. (Cotterell 56)
Writing: An example of writing is the oracle bone, which was used by Shang kings. Individuals would burn the oracle bone, it would crack and answer questions about their ancestors. These were created from Ox bone or tortoise shells. (Cotterell 11
Location: In the text it says "China is dominated by two great rivers." The yellow river and the Yangzi river would flow into the rich soil in the North plains. The waterways throughout China stretch across the empire. (Cotterell 38)
Indus River Valley
Location: In the text it states that round 5000 years ago, a civilization developed along the Indus River alluvial plain. Over time, a vast number of settlements were built on the banks of the Indus River and surrounding areas. The Indus River Valley covers most of modern day Pakistan, the Northwest region of modern day India, and a small option of Afghanistan. (Source: History of Southeast Asia)

Writing: In the text, it states that over 400 symbols have been discovered. Most of the symbols had been uncovered by seals and other materials. It also states "Some scholars have wondered whether these symbols actually constituted a proper writing system." which says that researchers didn't know if it was a real language or not.
