Mesopotamia
Location: On page 6 it said that Mesopotamia lies between two rivers. Also, we know that "most of Ancient Mesopotamia lay within the border of modern Iraq." The region is called the cradle of civilization. (Steele 6)
Religion: On page 14, it says "The Sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses." Also on page 14, it says the night sky was cows of sins. The Sumerians believed in gods, goddesses, demons, ghosts , and spirits. (Steele 14)
Architecture: On page 24, it says that ziggurats are big lasting symbols of Ancient Mesopotamia. Also on page 24, it says people thought the ancient pyramids were homes for the gods. They started building all this in the region of Ur-Nammu.(Steele 24)
Government: On page 10, it says that City-state rulers were honored with various titles. Also on page 10, it says rulers enjoyed having mighty power and fame. And we know this because we have recorded on clay tablets. (Steele 10)
Art: On page 28, it says they used molding clay to make pottery. Also, they used metalworking to make copper and bronze. They did this in 300 BCE to 3500 BCE. (Steele 28)
Writing: On page 12, it says Sumerians made the first writing system in the world. Also it says that "It was used later by Mesopotamian peoples, including the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians. The Sumerians made a system that would go on to change the world. (Steele 12)

Ancient China
Technology: On page 22 is says "Through China's history emperors have encouraged others to the development of science and technology." Also, in the middle ages many chinese people invented the silk road. Finally, there was the "Earthquake Weather Clock" that could tell where an earthquake was. (Cotterell 22)

Art: On page 56 it said China has always been recognized for their arts and crafts. They would use bronze, jade, silk, lacquer, and porcelain for statues and royalty crafts. These would be made from talented merchants who would sell their own work. (cotterell 56)
Religion: On page 12 it said The increasing of turmoil led to confucius to develop a new moral outlook. The new moral lookout was based on kindness, respect, and the strength of the family. Finally, he believed that you should treat him with respect and obey their ruler. (Cotterell 12)
Government: On page 18 it said the earliest members of the imperial civil service were recruited from Gaozu. The first Han emperor. And "Gaozu was uneducated, when he came to power he realized the empire needed educate administrators." (cotterell 18)
Commerce (Trade): On page 58 it said that from 1279 to 1368 the Mongol empire ruled China, and they permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their empire. Then they would go to the Silk Road that ran all through Asia. Also they would trade stuff like silk, spices, tea, porcelain, and lacquerware. (Cotterell 58)
Location: On page 6 it said "China is the world's largest continuous civilization." Because of its massive deserts and mountains, China was isolated for centuries and didn't discover other major civilizations until 126 B.C. Great thinkers like Confucius taught people to prioritize family and live an organized life. (Cotterell 6)
writing: On page 11 it said that "Shang kings used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits." In order to find out answers to questions, the ox bone or tortoise shell was scorched until it cracked. Finally, the answers were inscribed onto the oracle bone. (Cotterell 11)
