Ancient Egypt
Location: An example is on the banks of the Nile, the river would flood making the land fertile. In the text it says that "The farmers went to work sewing barley and emmer wheat." The Egyptians had to live near the river because over 90% of Egypt consists of desert. (Hart 8)
Government: An example of the government in ancient Egypt is the social pyramid. On the top were Pharaohs and the royal family. In the middle were the skilled workers, like priests and scribes. On the bottom were the unskilled workers, who didn't have a year round job. (Steele 12)
Religion: An example of religion is that the Ancient Egyptians were polytheistic. They believed in many gods, such as the Moon god and the god of wisdom. The main god was the Sun god. (Hart 24)
Architecture: An example of one of the most notable accomplishments in Egyptian architecture was the Great Pyramid of Giza. It was constructed as a tomb for king Khufu in 2589 BC. They are supposed to represent a huge staircase for the deceased pharaoh that leads to the Sun god, to reign together in the sky. (Hart 24)
Writing: An example of Egyptian writing is the hieroglyphics they used. These looked like almost anything, from birds, to bowls, to feathers. There are almost 700 total symbols in this unique ancient writing system.(Hart 32)
Art: An example of Egyptian Art is the kind of food they ate during their life. Since much of Egypt's soil was highly fertile, they were able to grow barley and emmer wheat. That was what they mostly ate, but ducks, geese, pigs, and more were included in the Egyptian diet. (Hart 48)
