ASSESSMENT OF GESTATIONAL AGE (SGA,AGA, LGA) AND NEONATAL REFLEX
Gestational age: provodes a more satisfactory method for predicting mortality risks and providing guidelines for management of the neonate than estimating gestational age or birth weight alone
SGA: small for gestational age. Infant below 10th percentile can be assumed to have intrauterine growth retardadtion or delay.
AGA: appropriate for gestational age. The infant whose weight is between 10th and 90th percentiles. can be presumed to have grown at a normal rate regardles if the time of birth- preterm, term or post term
LGA: Large for gestational age. Above 90th percentile can be presumed to have grown at an accelerated rate during fetal life

Rooting reflex: touching or stroking cheek alongside the mouth causes infants to turn head towards the side
stepping reflex: infant help so that the sole of foot touches hard surface, there is reciprocal flexion and extension of leg, stimulating walking
Moro reflex: sudden jarring causes sudden extension and abduction of extremeties, fanning of fingers, followed by flexing and adduction of extremitues
