SWOT analysis - Plant Irrigation water sprayer
Strengths
Multifaceted Idea
If anything, this product is essentially a jack of all trades. This is because it can both dispense seeds and water them. This therefore can save time, money and other resources
Cost effective
As it does 2 jobs, instead of only 1, it would be inherently more cost effective as opposed to buying both separatley
Good for soil
As it is smaller, it would not crack or compress the soil like an industrial-grade machine would do
Weaknesses
Not the best at anything
Despite having great features, there are better solutions for both problems. This is better explained in the threats section.
Upscaling
Having many of these products would become higher maintenance, as each would needed to be started, placed and controlled in an effective manner,
Oppurtunities
Smaller scale
As it is smaller, cheaper and better for small plots of land, it would be far more viable on a smaller scalee
:
It would also be relatively lower maintenance, giving ease to smaller scale farms and farm workers
Threats
Heavy Duty Machines (Tractors e.t.c)
One of the biggest threats / competitors that is already present in the market are heavy duty machines such as tractors. This is because of the large amounts of crops they can farm or place in relatively shorter times
Due to the fact that they are so huge, it may take multiple smaller automated machines to even compete with the likes of seed dispersers e.t.c
Irrigation systems
The main threat the second feature of the product, the watering system, has already automated substitutes
For example, sprinklers can be controlled automatically in vast numbers, and may be equally if not more efficient than the water feature found in this product
Even if thought from a water-saving perspective, a drip-irrigation system would be far better in comparison to this product, at least for the saving aspect.
