calcifying odontogenic cyst (gorlin cyst )
definition:
Calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) is a developmental odontogenic cyst characterized
histologically by ghost cells, which often calcify.
clinical manifestation
Most patients are asymptomatic,
intrabony lesions typically cause cortical expansion.
Extraosseous lesions present as submucosal swellings

10-30 years old
less than 1% of
odontogenic cysts
Radiography
well-defined unilocular lesions
about a third uniformly radiolucent
and the remainder a mixed radiolucency.
Cortical expansion is common
Radiopaque structures
within the lesion, either irregular calcifications or toothlike
30% of the radiolucent
associated with an unerupted tooth, most
often a canine.
