        What morphological characteristic changes happen as the maturation process progresses?
        
        Cell diameter decreases
        
        Cytoplasm becomes less basophilic
        
        Nuclear diameter decreases (N:C ratio decreases)
        
        Chromatin becomes coarser, more clumper and condensed
        
        Nucleoli disappear
        
        In granulocytes the nucleus shape changes and becomes segmented
        
        In erythroid line the nucleus is removed
