POSITIVE FEEDBACK
definition - is the physiolodgical prosses where the output of a system amplifies the original stimulus, driving a change further away from a stable set point until a specific end point/ outcome is reached
They form a looped system that causes a large departure from the original condition.
The stimulus from one part of the body will cause another part to enhance the effect of stimulus
EG child birth
Such as systems are unstable because they cause an escalation in the original condition
Uncommon system in the body
is not homostatic as it doesnt maintain balance
ends in an outcome eg Birth
Stimulus: A small change occurs.
Response: The system reinforces that change.
This continues until a critical event or endpoint stops the process.
NEGITIVE FEEDBACK
Most common in the body
Crucial homeostatic mechanism where the product or result of a process that acts to reduce or inhibit the original stimulus, therefore stabilising a system around a set point.
EG gastric emptying
It helps organisms maintain homeostasis or, in some cases, drive processes to completion.
