Secondary Research
A survey by the Parent-Infant Foundation, found that over 1 in 10 women (11.5%) struggled to bond in the first few weeks after birth. Other research has shown that around a third of new mothers (32%) reported difficulties bonding.
Childcare costs are a serious concern with 56% of respondents saying they were very concerned about the impact on their household finances (Source: Maternity Action).
A 2017 poll revealed that 59% of mothers spend little time with their children because they must prioritize work to provide for their families (Source: Day Nursery).
A study by Action for Children revealed that 82% of parents in the UK exhibited indicators of parental burnout.
The survey reveals that exhaustion (61%) is the most common emotion parents experience during the first year, followed by feeling overwhelmed (48%) and anxious (32%).
