Brotherhood and loyalty
The bond between the two brothers shows the power of family and loyalty, even in harsh circumstances.

Cato has achieved his goal but isn’t happy. His main goal was to find peace and freedom but despite this, it took his brother and his fellow companions away leaving him deeply emotionally damaged.

Both Cato and Virgil throughout the story is burdened with trauma from the losses and sacrifice made by others.
The power of Mother Nature
Throughout the story Cato and Virgil would have to face environments that are both harsh and good. Cato describes Mother Nature like a mother saying “Mother nature is like a mother giving her child harsh lessons that are good.”

Characters
Cato, Elder brother who is protective, strong and loyal
Virgil, the younger brother with hopes and dreams of freedom
Coco, a friend of the brothers who joins as a navigator
Hebrew, met the brothers at anouther industry insisted joining their journey.
A donkey which was found left abandoned in a shaft.
The plan
Secretly routing the areas in order to escape.
Escapes at night during a storm which made their escape harder.
Travel North by using the navigation of the Stars
The jouney
Quiet night escape slowly turning into a nightmare because of the storm.
The Brother struggle
Only Cato and Virgil remain in the end.
Virgil was badly wounded from the bullet which later dies from blood loss
Cato was left alone with his dead brother in his hand.

Constantly running into problems like the patrols and dogs.
Harsh terrains , rivers, forest and swamps.
Companions die one by one from harsh environments, exhaustion, sacrifice and injuries.
The Ending
Cato devastated by his brother death buries Virgil and later wonder off withought any destination.
Cato reaches a cliff at dawn showing a beautiful view symbolizing freedom.
Overcome with grief and despair he steps off the cliff. memories of his childhood flashing back as he happily smiled falling to his death.
