Railways expanded especially the Trans Siberian railway
Many new factories opened in Moscow and St Petersburg
Russia became the 4th largest producer of steel around the world
Agriculture
Famines were common because farming methods were inefficient
land reforms under Stolypin helped some peasants but not all of them
Most peasants still used old farming tools like wooden ploughs
Society
Workers faced poor wages and bad living conditions
But peasants still made up the majority of the population
The Tsar had most of the power
Politics
The Duma which was the parliament had little real influence compared to the Tsar
Opposition parties were often censored or banned for disagreeing with the Tsar
The Tsar still had most power despite the 1905 revolution
Education
Universities and schools expanded but they were limited
Some peasants began to move to cities for education and work
Literacy rated slowly increased especially in places such as cities
