several days pass as he does this, the explosions get noticed by news helicopters and shit and they see him leaving once, blurry
finally at the last location he doesn't even double check it's soldiers inside, just creates a huge explosion
it starts somewhat calm but he starts taking more of an enjoyment in it and they scale more and more

He goes through the list of locations, blowing them up as he does

Once Ash wakes again, they try using gold to heal themself as they can't reach soap to help him and it lets them have a discussion
Ash also gets thrown into a cell soon after, and being back in close proximity again, though farther than on the helo. makes them sick
Exposition Ash about why they worked for makarov and how the team found soap and also why he's been so angry
ash passes out and once the helo lands on base they're taken to medical while soap gets put in a cell
-
Chapter 8, Started, <50
They go on the mission, three buildings to clear. Ghost is sniping, one of the others for each building
Soap gets told to shut up, listens
-
It's the Hassan building that Soap's in, ends up fighting his way through. Roach is there with Ash, who is keeping Hassan alive through his use of a flawed version of Obsidian. When Soap finally gets through to Ghost, he sees Roach and Ash. This is what prompts chapter ten
The charges Hassan set go off and Soap is caught by that blast. Hassan shoves him out a window. Soap finally speaks up a bit before, "watch the window", Ghost doesn't listen until too late. He kills Hassan but Soap is already falling. Gaz saves him

The actual words are different colors so that they're easier to read. Only the main branch color matters
Chapter 13, not started
Price gets Gaz and Ghost back to the base as soon as he can, during which time Soap is getting restless and irritable
It's the middle of the night when they get back, Soap is training to try and burn of the aggression
Soap wakes up with Obsidian around his neck, goes to find Price
Ghost finds Soap and for once doesn't knock him out, but the two of them talk
Soap asks about Roach because he wants to understand who this man is when he's basically his replacement, and Ghost is not happy. They snap at each other and Soap storms off
Chapter 14, not started
He hears the other three talking about Roach and how much the miss him. Gaz admits to sometimes feeling like Soap is trying and failing to live up to a man he knows nothing about
He spars with Gaz and goes pretty much all out, won't stop even when Gaz taps. Price has to drag him off
-
-
Soap gets benched from missions and the demolition field after that, so he feels useless and shoved to the side and hated
Chapter 17, not started
-
Sopa waits a day or two, and once Price is bogged down with work, once the man leaves his office Soap breaks in and steals some documents
He knows that he's being watched closely, especially with Roach being there now
Once they find him gone Gaz dream talks with him that night, find a way to drag Price in?
-
Chapter 16, not started
-
Soap tells him that he ruined his life. No, Roach says, Makarov ruined his life.
-
And so there's only one thing to do, right? Makarov caused this. The team won't let him go after Makarov. He'll just have to do it without the team then.
After running, Soap finds himself in the area with Roach's cell. This should happen at the end of fifteen
Chapter 15, started >1000
-
-
-
Ghost finds him in the gym one day and tells him to spar with him. But he's far in his own head and it's making Obsidian act up, which is making Onyx act up
-
Chapter 19, not started
-
-
He has not a care in the world about hurting them, because Obsidian is messing with his morals.
starts a fire and looks over the documents he stole, some locations
Other half of the airport thing, he's gotta fight through the team that was dispatched to retrieve him
Chapter 18, not started
-
It takes a couple days but he stays awake through all of it until he's on his way to Russia on a plane
I think I want this one to be him getting further from base and getting money and stuff from his apartment
-
-
Chapter 21, not started
Ash is also there watching from the sideline, trying to leave but price has a hold on them
-
-
-
He tries to run as the helo closes in, but the attempt was doomed from the start
Chapter 27
They determine that Soap is NOT a traitor, he's just impulsive and dumb and ran off to kill Makarov, not join him
-
Roach is there for insight about Obsidian, Price is asking the questions, Gaz is there to tell if he's lying, Ghost is there as a threat
Soap immediately goes to the demo grounds to both burn energy and use corruption to help his soul, which makes the team aware of the ability
Entire team comes in to talk, Ash is unconscious or smth idk
-
chapter 26
-
-
-
-
timeskip of a few days, soap hasn't gotten the hang of corruption because he's not that OP
Chapter 24, ~850
-
141 starts asking ash why they were working with makarov and ash gets upset, golds emotional overload
Soap is forced to explain why he ran, he has no real answers except to kill makarov
-
-
chapter 31
Day before, so last minute prep stuff
-
-
-
-
Chapter 28
After snapping at a private (or an OC?) and failing to calm down, he turns to Ghost and they spar
Ghost for once does NOT knock that man out and instead they just go for a while, I need to learn how to write fight scenes
Soap is getting snappy again but he's getting better at managing it now that he can turn it outwards (corruption)
As they head back towards the barracks, they see Ash getting led out of the prison area thingy
-
Chapter 32
-
-
-
-
Alright this is now a filler chapter, basically them gathering of their own accord in the common room
-
Chapter 35
-
-
-
The team leaves the tunnel. There will always be more wars to fight and more battles to win, but for now? For now, things will be okay
-
Chapter 33
-
-
Refer to map in notes, they have to trek through the woods
-
-
Chapter 30
-
-
-
Back to training, Roach helps Soap with corruption
-
-
-
Chapter 2, 3277
-
-
-
Reflect on that a little, skip a few days, start the training
Chapter three, 3900
Still training because we're in the "not-plot" section of the book, the introduction, the GET TO THE GOOD STUFF ALREADY segment
Unlock explosion ability, Ghost lays somewhat off the training for a bit but Soap keeps training intensely anyway
Soap gets called in by Price to be told he's going on a mission with Gaz in a few days and told to lay off the training until then, and under no circumstances use his explosions cause he can't control them well
-
Chapter 9, Started, >500
-
The team are focused on finding Roach and Ash, who Ghost saw through his scope
-
He trains out of sadness once healed enough and collapses, but doesn't quite pass out. Ghost finds him. Show a slowly improving dynamic?
Chapter ten, started, >500
Ghost and Gaz get sent on a mission, so only Soap and Price are on base
Soap is bored and helps some rookies while training. One is sick and collapses. Soap carries him to medical and he gets sick the next day
He tries to work through it with paperwork and Price finds him in his office, with a highish fever. Dad Price takes a near delirious Soap back to bed. It takes Price a couple days to notice him, really play up the being ignored thing
Okay so Gaz gets captured on the mission, Ghost is able to get him out but it takes him a couple days and the Roach Dream happens
Chapter 22, barely started
ash looks more and more sick the more time passes, but everyone ignores the problem until they start coughing up blood
As the wielder of gold, the healer. they can tell when the others are sick, and the corruption of the soul caused by Obsidian makes this ability go haywire.
As an incentive for the healer to heal, when one of the other wielders is messed up in proximity, whoever holds Gold starts feeling ill and then their state deteriorates. It wont kill them, but theyll certainly be aware of it
-
Soap wakes up on the helo back, he and ash are restrained while Roach is also there for some reason and is not. Scrap roach being there?
-
Chapter Four, 2900
basic of him taking his gear off, reflecting, resting.
-
He falls asleep on the helo, as does Gaz, and Gaz accidentally broadcasts a dream to him about Roach
Chapter Five, 2355
He asks Ghost during training a couple days later, Ghost LOSES HIS STUFF
In my notes this was lumped in with four, so probably him going off to find answers about Roach
After that he goes to Price, who explains. Have the explanation in chapter six? End chapter as Soap walks into Price's office and goes "who's Roach?"
Chapter six, 2997
Price explains what happened as kind of a narrator format. It was basically the alone mission, except instead of Soap it was Roach, and Roach never reached the church
I guess a few scenes of Ghost's hostility towards him. Maybe pull from Something in the Orange and lock them in a room?
All they found was Ruby on the steps of the chapel, Ghost brought it back to base and nothing had been the same since? Or they recover it on a later date on a mission which exposed Makarov to them?
Chapter 7, 52
Soap goes to Price's office, he's going on a mission with the whole team. Price leads the team to a demo range to demonstrate their powers because Soap hasn't seen them all yet
Ghost starts getting fed up with him talking a bunch this chapter, it's important for next chapter
-
Chapter 11, not started
A small mission is sent out to assist Ghost in getting Gaz back. A rookie goes MIA before they succeed
Soap goes to Price after his dream and tells him about it because Amber dreams have a certain feel so he knows what this is
A few days pass with Soap and his feeling of dread. He's being followed. Ends with a Roach showing up "You have something of mine."
Chapter 12, not started
-
Physical altercation? Not sure. Chapter ends with Soap being knocked out. Shorter chapter? Maybe 1 to 1.5k word goal
-
These are going to be the shortened, more comprehensible versions of the chapter outlines. I'm also changing a few things from the draft so this will be the version I use probably.
character artifacts
-
-
Amber
-
-
goes for people who can read others easily, people persons
ruby
goes for people with the chance to destroy the ones they love, whether they know it or possibly would or not
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
ALL OF YOU if you have ideas for what others could be, feel free to suggest them because I don't want JUST the 141 to have them
-
-
-
Obsidian
corruption can be turned outward with focus, but it takes complete concentration. You can't multitask while doing it
is not immune to its own attacks, but it's to a lesser extent for the wielder or make immune so I don't have to write both a deteriorating mental state combined with a state of dread?
poisons the soul as a power. leaves black marks on the skin, the longer the contact, the more marks. if it reaches your heart? Bye bye. Marks fade over time.
Obsidian, as a mimicry of a true Artifact, can temporarily mimic the abilities of an artifact through contact with the artifact itself.
dread. Emits a sense of dread that affects everyone within a certain radius, although srength varies it cannot be turned off
-
-
-
Obsidian can't be removed. It latches onto the soul and feeds from it. It doesn't have the natural magic to draw off of like the true Artifacts. Instead it feeds from the soul. Once the soul is too damaged for it to have a proper hold, you can remove it. The Universe knows you need to be healed. It will help you
OC Artifacts
Gold
-
Can heal others, sense injuries and sickness
-
Can either utilize electricity, or "turn off" the abilities of another wielder through contact. Both? Electricity for an AED and the other for safety reasons?

World Building
Enemies
-
Makarov
along with being a terrorosit, he's now a mad scientist
He poses more of a threat because of his cloning of Artifacts, which he got from Enby
Valeria
She moves things for Makarov now too, also information to and from him
-
Shepherd
Orchestrates for Enby to be sent on the mission they are captured by Makarov on, is the one who sends Ash after them despite Ash not being combat oriented.
Still has the subplot of the missiles, which is what makes the suspicious of him. He's working with Makarov and Graves, but Hassan getting missiles was accidental
-
Disregard canon
Small filler missions in a way until it gets to Graves, which leads them to Hassan and Shepherd, which leads them to Makarov
-
That mission does still happen though, after his training arc
Once that mess is dealt with, wrap it up
Soap gets picked up for the 141 after he gets his hands on Ruby, not after the mission from MW2
The 141 is still an elite military taskforce, but it is also where most of the Artifact holders are placed. As they're so powerful, the government keeps a tight hold on them.
-
Makarov//Nex
As stated in the Shepherd section, Shepherd sent them out to be captured by them.
Ash was trying to save Enby but had no chance as a healer against an entire compound. Makarov used their connection against them, often nearly killing Enby to keep Ash nearby as they would have to keep healing their lover
Makarov is studying Sapphire and Gold's effect on it, but he can't actually get his hands directly on either. When he eventually kills ENby, Ash claims Sapphire. He keeps them around by not giving up Enby's body. Ash eventually runs, leading to the chase in what is currently slotted for the mid-late twenties cut away chapter. Right now the tab is called "Chapter Ash"
Relationships with Soap
Laswell does not have a strong opinion one way or another. She just met him, has interacted with him like once. She didn't have the time to get attached.
Ghost
As a person, Ghost doesn't care for him. He's too loud and too green, at least compared to the other members of the 141
This mostly manifests as hostility or just straight up ignoring him, though he can man up and work with Soap when he needs to
Ghost has complicated feelings about Soap. At least, complicated feelings about who he reminds him of and who he sees every time Soap gets too close
