The number of demonstrators grew from 20 to 3000. They threw stones at the riot police, they also struck passing cars with sticks.
A Eurasian shot two Malays which led to riots that became uncontrolled. Europeans and Eurasians were dragged from cars, buses ad beaten up, and in some cases, killed.
