book: the mountain is you: introduction
what do you mean by mountain
and sometimes it might be anxiety, fear or a old coping mechanism(habbit) which you want to giveup sometimes not known
people always think facing this mountain means to face lifes hardships but in reality we are just trying to figure out and correct/overcome all our childhood traumas, old coping mechanisms and unhealthy habbits that compounded overtime
sometimes we may point it as a addiction, relationships, motivation sometimes known
a mountain is nothing but a challenge infront you or usually a problem within us that need to be processed
why this book is reffered with respect to mountains
and the tittle"THE MOUNTAIN IS YOU" says that the real problem is you, your mindset, your way of dealing things and when you change yourself your life will change automatically
similarly like mountains, when we first encounter any problem they seem difficult and includes a lot of self doubts like where we are able to solve it or not
whenever we are talking about mountains we usually see them as large bodies which are difficult to climb and tough to reach to top when we are at very botom of it
Are pain, problems and challenges are bad in life?
pain usually gives us a breakdown which is folloed by breakthrough
pain usually gives us such type of awakening, the pain that is letting us to grow into our highest potential is not bad that is something very beneficial in longrun
whenever we are facing hardships of life we feel like we hit rock bottom and we realise that we need to step out of our comfort zone to make things feel lighter
importance of imperfection
chapter 4: building emotional intelligence
as a human inorder to lead a better life we 1st need to understand our bodies and our brains as well to lead a better life
our brain is designes to resist what you really want
this is why despite knowing our life will get better after achieving something we resist doing it
because we instinctively know that after achieving it we need to work more to maintain the status of our goal or to achieve something more bigger and we feel more challenging because this will keep us away from our comfort zone and our brain resist working on our goals
despite our brains resistence we often put some inconsistent effort to achieve our goals
this inconsistent efforts also effects our brain and lets our subconcious belief that your being bad
or you continue this inconsistent patter after achieving your goal your subconcious mind will develope a fear of failure and abviously youll resist even more to avoid that pain of loss or failure
what we usually know is whenever our desire is fulfiiled or we have achieved something we have always dreamed of our brain will release dopamine
recent studies says that this dopamine just dont give you pleasure of achieving your goal
rather it will give you a pleasure of wanting more
which means whenever we have achieved something in life our brain will trigger us to achieve more
you have already scaled a mountain and now you have another mountain to scale
our limited beliefs
but in reality our brain doesnt work like that
usually what we feel is whenever we set a goal and we timely achieve it we think we can relax and njoy the friut of our goal
what is emotional intelligence
and due to all this thoughts we tend to expeience a rollercoaster of emotions
and emotional intelligence is all about understand the emotions which means the core intension behind this emotions and interpretting them in a better and healthy way
this will help us feel more enlightened and satisfied and help us to lead a better every day life
usually our brain always keeps us busy with various thoughts some from our past experiences and some with the hope of future
includes both positive and negative
absence of emotional intelligence lets us feel struck and demotivated and lets us in self sobotaging behaviours
