Rural Settlements
Settlement Patterns (show with aerial photo + topo map):
Isolated → single buildings far apart
Dispersed → scattered houses spread across land
Nucleated → cluster/village around a point (e.g. water, road, church)
Linear → houses built in a line (along a road/river)
Rectangular → blocks in neat grid layout
Circular → built in circle (often defensive or cultural reasons)
Urban Settlements *
Land-Use Zones (show with aerial photo + topo map):
Central Business District (CBD) → tall buildings, busiest zone, transport hub
Residential Areas
High income → big houses, large yards
Middle income → suburbs, medium homes
Low income → small, dense housing
Industrial
Heavy → large factories, pollution, far from houses
Light → small industries, closer to CBD
Shopping Centre → malls, retail areas
Recreational → parks, stadiums, sports fields
Outlying Business District → smaller CBD outside main one
Commercial → offices, banks, services
