Food Culture
Some food I grew up eating is different kinds of burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadilla, nachos, and rice and beans.
Since I'm half Mexican and half Puerto Rican, food has always been a really important part of my culture. It's something my family uses to bond over and something that helps us identify where we're from.
Some other foods I've grown to love is Indian, Mediterranean, and Italian food.
Travel Culture
We like to go somewhere farther every year, as the trip to Nevada is like a road-trip, and we try to also go somewhere that would require a plane. We've been to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas in recent years.
Almost every summer, my family and I go to Lake Laughlin in Nevada with my cousins.
I would like to travel to Europe in the future to experience those cultures. I would like to go to Greece, Italy, and France. When I'm older, it's important to me to be able to integrate travel into my goals and life.
Music Culture
My dad is really into music, and it's a big part of my family's culture. There's always Spanish music playing at every family party (birthday, holiday, get-together) as we're very lively and loud.
I grew up listening to all types of music from a bunch of different decades because of my dad, so it's a really big part of my life. I listen to alternative and pop music genres the most.
I've went to two concerts last year, and I'm going to my third this September. I want to make it a goal to go to at least one concert a year, as I really love to hear live music.
Latino Culutre
Being Mexican and Puerto Rican has played a big factor into shaping who I am as a person. My culture's music, food, and language has all determined the type of person I am and the things I like. One of my favorite music artists is Puerto Rican (The Marias) and I'm familiar with all the traditional dishes that my family makes and it's influenced the food I'm drawn to even now.
Mexican side: I feel very drawn towards the food and music, as I understand the Mexican dialect of Spanish well and listening to music in that language as well as visiting restaurants where Spanish is thrown around makes me feel closer to my heritage.

Puerto Rican side: A few summers ago I visited Puerto Rico and learned a lot about my culture/family. I visited family that lived there, and explored the town where my aunt and grandmother grew up. It was a really formative memory\for me, as I felt so much closer to my heritage
Reading Culture
I was in book club at AOC all years of high school. Now I'm an officer and hope to continue the opportunity of having an environment where people can read.
I have been reading all my life and like finding friends who also enjoy it to have people who I can talk about books with.
Sports Culture
Played soccer for 5 years. I was on a team with other girls, and it wasn't too competitive but we still went against other teams to practice and play the sport. I would get close with them and form connections as we were on these teams for months.
I don't follow many sports, but my family likes to watch the World Cup with relatives and my families a big fan of the dodgers so I like to watch games with them and we sometimes go to games at Dodger Stadium.
My brothers also play soccer when I used to, but one of them would also do flag football- so I like to watch his game and enjoy learning about that sport and the specific environment it creates.
Work Culture
I work at Kumon Tutoring Center twice a week, and having a job has taught me a lot about a professional atmosphere, time management, and social skills.
I learned how to conduct a professional interview, speak with my employer, and build relationships with my coworkers and the kids that I tutor during my shift.
Religious Culture
My family follow catholisicm. Though we don't go to church that often, there are still some prayers before we eat and on all the major holidays we go to church and celebrate god (Ash Wednesday, Easter Sunday, Christmas, etc).
