Stages
Stage 1
The presence of two or more diabetes-related autoantibodies (e.g., GAD, IA2, ZNT8)
The presence of multiple autoantibodies confers a nearly 80% risk of progressing to clinical diabetes within 20 years

Stage 2
Autoantibodies present, and patient is dysglycaemic, but still asymptomatic

Physiological stress from infection, surgery, anaesthesia etc

Use of SGLT2i, especially when fasting
