Misuse of Antibiotics
Antibiotics are drugs used to kill bacteria or inhibit their growth. They do not work against viruses.

A drug is a substance that causes changes to the body’s chemistry, particularly affecting how it functions physically and/or mentally.

Medicinal drugs – used to treat or prevent disease (e.g. antibiotics, painkillers).
Recreational drugs – taken for pleasure, not medical reasons (e.g. alcohol, heroin, nicotine).
Legal vs illegal drugs – Some drugs are permitted by law (e.g. alcohol, nicotine in adults), while others are prohibited (e.g. heroin).
