- Case studies provide a deep and detailed account of the case + allows to explore different aspects of the case using the apprropiate methods
- The findings only apply to the case so generalizations cannot be made + Findings cannot be replicated

- It shows you how people lives change over time + you can see what factors may have brougth changes in peoples life
- takes a lot of time + sample attrition, the participants may leave the research

- The researcher can make questions without arrousing suspicion + Avoids ethical issues
