CHILDREN AND SCIENCE
Early science: emphasises in the formation of attitudes and mastery of science process skills through the investigation of the living world, material world and physical world including earth and space
we can encourage and teach children how to discover and wonder about everything in the world around them
Upon completion of learning activities in Early Science, pupils can:
acquire scientific skills and think creatively and critically
practice scientific attitudes and values
enhance their curiosity and interest of the world around them
interact and share information as well as solve problem
DEFINITION:
-defined as knowledge about the natural world
-from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledege"text
INTRODUCTION:
SCIENCE: application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evivdence
In learning science, one must come to understand both:
process (knowledge is established,extended,refined and revised
knowledge
Early science: kids learn about nature, objects and everyday phenomena
engaging children in observation, questioning and exploration
