Ammonia(chapter 10)
-
How can ammonia be made
-
Extraction of raw materials for haber process and nitrogen gas is obtained from the fractional distillation of liquid air
Hydrogen gas is obtained from the cracking, or breaking down of crude oil fracctions
At room temperature, nitrogen gas is unreactive. So, the forward reaction(combining nitrogen and hydrogen) does not take place. A high pressure and a relatively high temperature are required to start the foward reaction between nitrogen and hydrogen
