Democracy and education 🎓
Definition of Democracy:
government by the people in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system
There are two basic categories of democracies:
Direct democracy,
where all citizens participate directly in public decisions (practical for small groups)
representative democracy,
where citizens elect officials to make decisions and laws on their behalf (common in modern societies).
Internet and Education 🌐
This unit emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and evaluative skills when using the Internet due to the variable quality of online information.
Evaluating Internet Resources:
To judge the credibility of an Internet resource, you should ask the "three WWW's":
Who?
: Who created the content?
When?:
When was the content published or last updated?
Where?:
Where does the information come from, and what is the source's authority?
Innovation and Education 💡
This unit focuses on discussing innovation in education, acquiring related vocabulary, and debating concepts such as the "Aula Digital" (Digital Classroom).
Digital Classroom
is described as a dual concept, encompassing both physical and virtual meanings.
Physical level:
A learning space equipped with high technology, where computing and telecommunications platforms enable new forms and scenarios of learning.
Virtual level:
A perceptible digital space and time that expands learning possibilities, limited only by the imagination of teachers, students, and engineers.
It aims to expand the dimension of learning by providing equitable access to knowledge and communication globally, enriching and amplifying traditional classroom learning.
Business and Education 💼
This unit focuses on mastering vocabulary related to business and education, reading about business, discussing business and education topics, and practicing writing a business letter.
The unit involves practicing useful numbers and addresses, creating stories from images, and developing dialogues using provided terms.
