Windows 1.0
1985
Users were allowed to work with multiple applications simultaneously in a Windows environment. However, since Windows 1.0 was more of a graphical user interface shell that ran on top of MS-DOS, Windows 1.0 could have been more successful but laid the foundation for future Windows versions
Windows 3.0
1990
It was a breakthrough for Microsoft. It provided a more user-friendly interface, support for better graphics, and improved performance. Windows 3.0 marked the beginning of the popularity of the Windows operating system.
Windows 95
1995
It was a big hit. It had the Start menu (the button at the bottom left of your screen), the taskbar (the bar at the bottom), and the buttons to make a window smaller or close. Windows 95 was crucial in making personal computing accessible to a broader audience.
Windows XP
2001
It was one of the most liked versions of Windows. "XP" stands for "experience," which was already much more stable than Windows 95.
Over the next few years, Microsoft released various Windows versions, including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.
Each iteration brought improvements in features, security, and performance.
