My Year 7 science Journey
cells
key experiment: every one search one type of cell and introduce about it's function and adaptation..., e.g: nerve cells
I found learning about cells interesting because it helps us understand ourselves and the living things around us. we learn how each sell work and how they help us live.
what I learn: different type of cells, cell structure, organelles, microscope
I think the part on learning different cell function is a bit hard, but I overcome it by discussing different ideas wit classmates and understand how the cell adaptation can affect it's function
periodic table
key experiment: putting the sodium into water and looking at it's reaction and write the lab report.
learning about the history of periodic table are very interesting and like to learn about different fact of each elements.
What I learn: Elements, symbols (e.g O for oxygen), and how the table organizes metals and nonmetals.
I think the hard part is to memorize the name and year and what the scientists do to change the periodic table, but I learned more through make it into a table, so it is more clear.
separation techniques
key experiment: we do the experiment on using the filter paper to separate different type of solution to solute and solvent
it is interesting because we did many fun experiments and understand how the different of mixture, compounds, and elements are by doing investigations.
what I learn: different type of apparatus, how to separate solution, mixtures and compounds
I. think the hard part is to find out the difference of mixture, compounds and elements, and making a lab report is also very challenging, but I learn more from practicing.
ecosystems
Key experiment:drawing food weds and food chains using also pyramid of number and biomass
learning about this unit shows how all living things depend and affect on each other—even tiny changes can affect an entire ecosystem due to food wed and food chains
What I learn: Food chains, producers/consumers, habitats, and human impact
Understanding energy flow was hard in the first for me, but I overcome it by try drawing food webs and understand how energy transfer.
forces
key experiment: rubbing a balloon on your hair and the ballon sticks on the wall according to friction
learning about forces help me understand more about how push and pull act of things in real life applications, this make me feel interesting while it connects with many fun experiments
main idea I learn: acceleration, type of forces, balanced and unbalanced forces, Newtons law
what I found challenging is the part on Newtons law and how it can be used. I overcame it by learning examples on each law to understand why it works
motion
Key experiment: Timing toy cars down ramps at different angles to measure speed changes and how it effects time
Motion is everywhere like walking, cars moving, or planets orbiting Calculating speed helps us very much in daily lives
what I learn: Speed, velocity, acceleration, and how to calculate them (e.g., speed = distance ÷ time).
understanding the velocity graph is a little hard, but I start to understand more from the direction of the arrows to show where speed is bringing the object.
