format ideas:
hand made magazine
a hand made magazine is one of my many ideas for publishing as it is a good way for attracting a younger viewing audience to understand the awareness of my socially conscious issue and potentially get them to stop normalising it.
as much as it might help to attract a younger audience a hand made magazine has its disadvantages, magazines can sometimes be seen as comical and childish and as much as we want it to reach younger people it might make them look at it as unserious and think its a joke and not something they should be aware of.
books
books are a good way of sharing information about a socially conscious issue, it can be made to give important information on how crucial it is to make people aware of something going on through potentiqally a story or simple facts.
although books give you important information it eliminates the point of using photos and edited pictures to create a deep meaning behind what they are about and how important the issue is.
posters
posters can be designed in many different ways, they allow you to let your creativity to run free, it gives you freedom to share information about different things, it is very versatile. posters can be made to advertise a movie or an event, it can also be made to spread awareness of something, it can be made to share information while also using pictures and designs.
even though posters are very good to use to share information and also make designs, it defeats the purpose of using multiple pictures to share information and spread awareness.
digital magazine
a digital magazine can be made to use multiple pictures to spread awareness of something which is important, it allows me to use multiple pictures to create a story about something which should be recognised more. it allows me to make multiple different poster like designs. with a digital magazine it allows me to purely use pictures and not rely on loads of words to get an important message through to the viewing audience.
although a digital magazine would be a perfect fit for me to use, it leaves me with no other choice but to rely on getting a message through with only pictures, i need to hope that the pictures i use are good enough to use to spread awareness of my socially conscious issue.
photoshoot/pictures
for the pictures i want to use i am planning on using surrealism and greyscale so i can allow the colour of the picture to set a negative tone and help the viewing audience understand that the topic im trying to showcase is negative.
the pictures i can take can be clear pictures of littering around my area, for example, an overlfowing bin or someone walking past litter, it can even be a simple picture of litter.
although my pictures might be effective they could also be described as simple, my aim is to make the inital view look simple but with editing techniques i want the viwer to question it and look harder at the picture, i want them to question why they are still curious about what they're looking at. i want it to come across as simple but effective but after looking closer there is a sotry behind it, a meaning which screams my socially conscious issue.
editing techniques
after taking my pictures i need to edit them, i want to use editing techniques that make my pictures look like they may have a story behind them, i want them to say something and give them a deeper meaning that what you initially see.
one of the methods i will use will be greyscale, this can give a negative mood to the picture and set the tone of my socially conscious issue im trying to represent. i can use grey scale to make my pictures black and white, not only will this give a negative mood but it will also introduce the technique of surrealism, this will show how im trying to tell a story behind a simple yet effictive picture.
typography
typography can be used to share information or small facts about my socially conscious issue, i can use small phrases and facts that compliment my surrealism method while also making it more effective. typography can be used to make the viewer think more about what is going on in the picture, it can give context and tell a story.
i can also use the blur and smudge tool when using typography, this can give the typography more effect and fit in with the surrealism method as it can make the viewer look closer and think about what it says and what it is trying to tell them.

i can also sell my digital magazine online, i can advertise it and then sell it as a whole magazine, this can give more information about the socially conscious issue as it is shown as a whole piece, the only disadvantage with this is that it might not be as popular as other techniques unless i have a partnership with others to help promote the publishing product i have created.
