        Helps with ingestion and mechanical digestion of food
        
        They chop food into smaller pieces increasing the surface area so it is easier for enzymes to work
        
        Mammals have 4 kinds of teeth
        
        INCISORS
        
        Sharp edges in the front of the mouth, used to bite pieces of food
        
        CANINES
        
        Pointed teeth at the sides of the incisors
        
        PREMOLARS
        
        Teeth with broad surface area. They are located between canines and molars. They grind food increasing surface area for better enzyme activity later on
        
        MOLARS
        
        Found towards the back of the mouth
  - - - Breaks down starch to form maltose. Afterwards maltose breaks it down into glucose
        
        Maltose —> Secreted by cells in small intestine
        
        In the mouth’s salivary glands and in the duodenum in the pancreas
    - - Is secreted in the stomach and the duodenumn
        
        In stomach: Pepsin is produced (optimum pH=2)
        
        In pancreas: Trypepsin is produced (optimum pH=7)
