- - - - MY OPINION:
    - - RAT PARK EXPERIMENT: an example can be the lab rat experiment. So basically, with the rat park experiment, in an environment where they are in a cage, alone, with no sense of community, they choose to overdose on heroine. Rats who are composed in an environment where there is a sense of community with other rats they still take the drugs but never overdose. Why does Mildred choose to overdose? Even in this world of 'contentment' the society is still empty, people are not able to communicate with each other to form a sense of community. Therefore, with this idea of censorship of things that 'make people unhappy because of opposing opinions' why is there a significant amount of drug abuse leading to many overdoses.
        
        From here, we can also see this as a form of symbolism for society itself. individuals who are facing challenging emotions and don’t know how to manage them – not everyone is ‘content’. Drug rat experiment (didn’t continue to use drugs when in an enriched environment – when there is stress they are tempted by drugs as a coping mechanism). The society the book is set in is not an enriched society, a deliberate intention of Bradbury. Mildred's reliance on sleeping pills to numb herself from reality represents the broader societal trend of using distractions to avoid confronting the problems and unhappiness of their lives.
        
        The emergency operators' nonchalant attitude toward Mildred's overdose, stating they handle similar cases every night, reveals a deep-seated disregard for human life and a normalised acceptance of self-destructive behaviour
        The government, through its control of information and promotion of shallow entertainment, contributes to this societal apathy. It distracts people from thinking critically or seeking meaning, thus pushing them towards escapism and potentially dangerous behaviours
        -- These symbolic stuff from the overdosing in itself can be seen as Bradbury's prediction of the future with advancements of technology. In a world where technology is predominately used and is used to dictate our thoughts, eg ideas pushed through social media -- it can cause to people to lack critical thinking, individual thought which makes it harder for them to be emotionally intelligent and understand their own emotions because they are surrounded with the idea of what they should think, or should do. social media pushes for ideas of how you should live life, comparison makes things confusing yadda yadda.
- - - - States that people in control of the media given to society impairs their judgement. as the society is exploited through technology being a tool for mass controllers. -- simple gratification through individuals attitude causes society to comply to things said about technology yadda yadda
      - DISAGREE: requires culture of easy gratification to form first in order for individuals to lack originality
    - - SOCIAL MEDIA: bradbury predicted that through the icnrease of technology use and as it becomes more prominent, and utilised in society it can be misused as a way to CONTROL SOCIETY. Therefore, with the rise of social media for instance and easy accessible resources, we are able to have access to short-term instant satisfactory dopamine rushes through technology. as we become more attatched, addicted to technology use and simple gratification it is easier to manipulate, spread propaganda and influence a population through technology media as less individuals will want to put in the effort to make their own opinions and form their own knowledgable ideas and whatever
        
        McGiveron states that Bradbury argues that society themselves choose to conform to simple gratification IS TRUE
        
        Individuals in Fahreheit 451 are aware of what is contained in books and how by burning books it is censoring knowledge, but they choose to comply anyway because it is 'easier' and 'less effort such as Faber & Beatty. Beatty is n example of an individual who complies with the government and believes that is a good thing. Just like today with SOCIAL MEDIA we are aware of how overusing it is damaging due to the addiction of instant satisafaction but we continue to use it well aware of its damage because it is easier and convenience -- forms a society which astrays from individuality, originality and authenticity.
        
        Use captain Beatty's quote and McGiverons arguments
        
        With the consistent use of technology and teh increase of addiction to short-term gratification, iyt leads to a society where they depend on short term gratification and heavy reliance on technology and their short-term effective sources to enhance their living. They become unable to make decisions for themselves and handle critical thinking or difficult emotions which leads to the dependancy on drugs for satisfaction when experiencing advanced problems or emotions
        
        Drugs symbolise that in the society it is not content but rather disconnected. if society was content and benefitting from their consumption of technology and censoriship of knowledge, why is drug use so common and relied upon? because theyre not content
      - we can see how in Fahrenheit 451society is controlled and manipulated easily as individuals easily comply and do not question things they are told. everything they talk about is shallow and they share the same thoughts as their neighbours.
      - SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTIONS: from short term dopamine hits, mindless scrolling, mindless stupid content which is meaningless yet so many individuals use it and are addicted to it knowing how damaging it is -- is a choice although they are aware. addiction and simple gratification overpowers censorship
