DIABETES INSIPIDUS (DI), Diabetes Type 1, Diabetes type 2 - Coggle Diagram
DIABETES INSIPIDUS (DI)
deficiency or resistance to antidiuretic hormone (ADH) → resulting in excessive urination and thirst, not related to blood sugar.
Neurogenic (Central) DI= ↓ ADH production by the hypothalamus/pituitary (e.g., head injury, tumor, surgery)
Nephrogenic DI= Kidneys do not respond to ADH (e.g., genetic, drugs like lithium)
-
Polydipsia= Intense thirst, especially for cold water
-
-
-
ADH replacement (e.g., desmopressin), fluids
Diabetes Type 1
-
-
-
-
-
-
chronic autoimmune disease= here the body’s immune system destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.
Diabetes type 2
-
chronic metabolic disorder where the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn't produce enough insulin, leading to high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
