NEA - BIKE PRODUCT
-
current problems
maintenance
- when cleaning drive train sometimes the oil flicks onto discs contaminating them
- when washing bike the current stand doesn't hold it securely and it can move about in the air
- no option to have the bike stood upright with current stand
- easy to lose parts when working on bike
- in the winter lack of light makes it hard to see + holding light leaves one free hand
storing
- the bike is stored leant against a wall in lean-to leaving it vulnerable to falling over
- no system to hold brakes so the bike can move
- difficult to wheel through to the garden from the garage
using/riding
- no integrated storage on bike so an extra bag has to be brought on trails to carry items
- difficult to transport inner tubes as they are quite bulky
- when coming home from biking there is no designated space to put/organise kit making a messy garage/lean-to
-
client = brother
- mountain bikes every weekend + sometimes throughout the week
- transports bike to bike parks mainly on trains + sometimes using a car
- bike = cube stereo 177 pro
- front tyre diameter = 22.5 inch
- back tyre diameter = 22.4 inch
potential solutions
maintenance/storing
- a more stable + secure bike stand that can hold the bike at a wide range of angles for easy maintenance
- light attachment for easier working the dark
- designated compartments attached to the body of the stand so parts/tools can be stored + become less likely to be lost
- a stand that can hold the bike both horizontal + vertical
- collapsable/thin stand that allows the bike to be stored efficiently when not in use
- pegboard that can hold bike out of the way when not in use + has compartments to store tools, gear + parts
using/riding/maintenance
- collapsable, lightweight bike stand that can be taken on trails
- a stand that can be utilised in multiple environments
- attachments to bike frames that can store tools, equipment to remove the need for a backpack
