problems in the living room
not being able to reach things whilst sitting and too lazy to move,
spaces for pets. where do they eat/drink? eg:
dogs beds or cat scratching posts, even bird cages take up room
elderly being uncomfortable in usual chairs
lighting at night time could affect eyesight, a design solution is smart light bulbs, TVs with changeable brightness and dimmable lamps
problems in the bedroom
too many products and not enough storage, a design solution is underbed storage bins/ bags which is great for seasonal clothing
poor sleeping quality, a lack of sleep can lead to to a worse performance in school/work. a design solution for this is using blackout curtains and soundproof panels on walls
charging ports not being where preferred, a design solution is nightstands with built in charging ports also keeps cables neat
problems in the bathroom
toilet paper storage?, a design problem is over the door organizers or built in shelves.
mold or mildew from the liquids and chemicals, a design solution is using mold resistant paints or opening windows to improve airflow
slippery floors from showers or baths is a hazard to unaware people, a design problem is non-slip tiles, stone textured vinyl and matting with rubber backing which is non-slip
problems in offices
this will mainly affect those who work from home or does anything online
poor ergonomics can create aching and problems all over the body, a design solution to this is to use adjustable standing desks or anything adjustable which can be adjusted to your preferred way
a distracting environment around them when they're trying to concentrate a design solution for this is installing sliding room dividers, privacy curtains ad soundproof panels to go on walls.
another issue is cable clutters and looking a mess a design solution for this is installing a cable tray under the desk or using cord clips
problems for pets
pets can suffer with not being looked after or treated properly, if they're a pet for a child then usually the child doesn't care after a few months. not being treated properly includes not being fed, having water, going for walks or anything needed
not having a good environment around them, not having a big enough enclosure can make them suffer, or even being forgotten about which they never chose to be in that house or place
animals in the garden can be prey to predators, e.g. rabbits or chickens are prey to foxes or any large birds
pets (especially older dogs) can easily slip on smooth floors like tiles or hardwood leading to injury, a design solution for this is non-slip rugs.
mess from food and water, can cause stains or mold, design solution is a raised feeder with anti-spill mats
problems in the hallyway/entryway
everyone is effected by problem in the hallway, especailly parents , delivey workers and the elderly
an issue is tripping harzards from shoes/bags by there being not enough storage. a current design solution is bilt in shoe cubbies underneath, coat and bag rack above.
not enough storage overall a good enough lighting which can cause distress to eyes a design solution for the bad lighting is motion-sensored LEDs
Problems in the garden
the elderly, children, pet owners and people that like gardening are affected
poor drainage, soil becomes soggy or flooded after heavy rain,harming plants a design solution for this is raised garden beds to keep plants above water.
too much sun or heat can scorch plants ad make seating areas uncomfortable, a deign solution for this is reflective light-coloured surfaces to reduce heat absorbtion
exposed to the wind, strong winds damage plants and make it uncomfortable to be outside, a design solution for this is windbreaks which are like hedges or slatted wood fence to reduce the amount of wind strength
