coral reef destruction
-
problems/issues
Coral reefs which are vital marine ecosystems are dying due to rising sea temperatures, ocean acidification, pollution and physical damage from tourism and fishing
Coral bleaching is a major symptom of this crisis, where corals expel the algae that give them colour and life leaving them vulnerable to death
Who is affected
Coral species and marine biodiversity- species of fish that normally live and inhabit the coral reef will no longer have a place to live therefore their species may become invasive or die out which will hugely impact the food chain and the habitats as they will have to fight for territory
Fish and marine animals rely of coral reefs for shelter and food, with a lack of living coral, the species will find it difficult to easily get food which will resort in more competition and disrupt the food chain. The diets will have to be changed which may negatively impact the fish and possibly humans if they are caught and sold
Coastal communities relying on reef based tourism and fishing will struggle to keep their business in play as they will attract less customers which leads to less profit and will eventually not be able to fund the business. This is bad as usually some of the profit made from these businesses are donated or used to support the growth of new coral
Current solutions
Coral restoration projects are becoming more popular. This is a project focussing on re planting coral so that humans can ensure that coral is still being grown to benefit the lives of the fish and organisms in the sea
Marine protected areas (MPAs) are beneficial to the reef as they can allow certain parts to not be disturbed to maximize the chances of the coral reefs growing and the fish being at peace
donating
who does it affect
donating affects the owner of the charity and also the people donating to the chosen charity because the owner can then choose where is practical to spend the money as well as giving wages and funding the charity/ business
issues/prombelms
some people may not be able to donate money if there is only 1 method of payment, for example the charity is more likely to gain more donations if it accepts card, cash, online or exchanging products/ services
The donating may be an inconvenience for people struggling financially if they have subscribed to a programme ensuring they pay a set amount per month, it is difficult to find the share money and may cause more financial struggling even ehilst helping out with a beneficial deed
current solutions
in fundraisers there will often be a donation box or a system set up to ensure payments and transfers can be made efficiently and sucsessfully this helps maximise the total money input as it has available ways to pay to satisfy everyone
fundraiser
who is affected
the public that chooses to attend the fundraiser, they people donating and purchasing products to help benefit the charity and the owner of the charity because they will hopefully gain money to be spent improving the charity and what they specialize in
issues/problems
the fundraiser may be held in a location hard to access for people which leads to potentially lost sales/ clients that could donate to the charity. this is bad because the charity would want the full potential of clients so that their aims and objectives are met whilst benefiting they cause
current solutions
websites and social media can help advertise the fundraiser including when and where it is held giving the public an insight to the key events/ highlights on the event.

Initial thoughts
Supporting a charity is beneficial to the owner and helps improve the designated area the chosen charity helps. I think charity work is important and very helpful as donations always go to a great cause. I have picked charities based around animals and marine life
