Innovation Plan Ideas- Social Proposal
Local Support groups for young people
Having multiple support groups throughout wales and in rural areas to allow access to socialisation and mental health support without travelling extremely far.
This would be beneficial to depressed or isolated individuals as it would provide a community for similar individuals, without having to go too far from home.
It would allow more opportunities and accessibility for young people with disabilities or chronic illnesses to receive mental health support if we make the journey between people and support as little as possible.
Multiple groups could be held in the same venues such as groups for those with mental health issues, LGBTQ+ groups, or groups for those with physical disabilities or learning difficulties to allow community and for young peopkle to relate to eachother.
App to connect young people struggling with Mental health
This would allow much easier access to support, for those with issues such as agoraphobia, social anxiety or any disability that prevents someone from leaving the house with ease, as it could allow connection and socialisation with like minded individuals without the pressure and difficulties of meeting and interacting in real life.
Even if mental problems are stopping people from accessing support, this app could improve mental health and encourage this to occur eventually
The app could contain a feed with daily posts about mental health and ways to improve wellbeing at home, to ensure that they are getting support and advice everyday without needing to leave the house yet or travel long journeys to the closest place of support
Weekly workshops for young people
Hold weekly workshops such as cooking, baking, art and crafts workshops to build important life skills and improve the mental health of young people.
Workshops would be held in groups, allowing socialisation and interaction for people struggling with mental health who may feel isolated
Having external people and specialists coming in to teach about different topics and encourage socialisation and how to maintain good wellbeing
Talks on areas such as exercise, relationships, friendships etc for those who have neurodiversity or are struggling with mental health.
App to track waiting times for mental health services
Waiting for support can be frustrating, therefore an app to track where you are at on a waitlist could help people struggling with mental health feel more informed about how long they will need to wait
Even though it may be hard to shorten waiting times, allowing people more control can improve wellbeing if they feel in the dark, as it can provide a light at the end of the tunnel
App to connect people within schools or university.
People struggling from social anxiety or are shy would benefit from an app that allows them to meet new friends around them in school or university, as it is easier to initiate a friendship online than in person for some.
people would enter their school emails and log in, and find people who's profile displays similar interests or courses that thry study.
