Cleaning
I could make a light duster with a long bendy handle so people can clean high places without climbing or hurting themselves
A dustpan with a clip on brush that hangs on the wall so that people would stop losing it or keeping it on the floor
I could make a small caddy with compartments for storing cloths, gloves, and sprays, made, from plywood or plastic
A bendy cleaning tool with a wooden handle and detachable microfiber cloth for places that are hard to reach
Problems for cleaning
Certain areas are hard to clean properly-Spots like behind furniture, under the bed, or corners are tricky to reach with standard tools. This leads to a build-up of dust and dirt in places people often forget or avoid cleaning.
It’s annoying to carry cleaning products around-When cleaning multiple rooms, you usually have to carry loads of bottles, cloths, and tools at once. This is uncomfortable and makes people less motivated to clean properly.
Cooking
You can have like a recipe phone stand made from wood or acrylic that hold your device from an angle when cooking so is easy and especially because your hands could be wet from cooking therefore you wont have to type
I can make a multi use chopping board with a built in tray underneath to catch chopped food as it is more practical
I could build a simple pan lid holder so people can rest lids safely when cooking, instead of balancing them on the counter.
I could create a spice tray with labelled sections to keep ingredients neat and easy to find when preparing meals.
-
Problems for cooking
There is not enough space for preparing ingredients during cooking.-This causes clutter on the worktop and makes it harder to chop, measure, and organise food, especially in small kitchens.
People often lose track of recipes or struggle to read them while cooking.-This leads to mistakes, stress, or dirtying phones and paper instructions while trying to follow a recipe.
Leftovers or prepped food aren’t always stored properly during or after cooking-This can cause waste, mess, or food going off quickly due to poor storage habits.
Laundry
-
I could do a laundry bin with section so that it is easier for me to sort out clothes such as colors for example which
means that it wont get mixed up
-
-
Problems for laundry
Clothes often get left on the floor or not sorted properly- This makes it harder to do laundry quickly and can lead to dirty clothes mixing with clean ones, or colours getting washed together by mistake
Carrying heavy baskets around the house can be a bit awkward- Especially in bigger hommes or if there are stairs, dragging or lifting a big basket full of clothes is uncomfortable and tiring
-
Tidying and storage
I could so a desktop organiser with slots for tech, pens, and notebooks (made from plywood or acrylic).
I could do a fold-flat underbed storage box, using canvas sides with a removable wooden base
I could domini shelf with hooks for accessories like keys, masks, or hats — wall-mounted
-
A rotating toy organiser with compartments, made from stacked circular layers
I could create a “grab-and-go” tray for people to put things like keys, phone, and wallet in the same place every day.
-
Pet care
For people with pets, I could make a leash and collar organiser with hooks and labelled sections. I could also build a raised food and water bowl tray that stops bowls sliding around and keeps the area cleaner. A treat dispenser or grooming kit box with sections for brushes and nail clippers would also be helpful. These would make pet care easier and tidier at home, and I could build them with safe materials like smooth-edged plywood.
Chores
I could create a reward board using magnets or stickers to keep track of who’s completed their tasks and earn points.
I could design a name tag rail where each person’s tag slides along to show which job they’ve been given for the day.
-
I could make a sliding chart with wooden or plastic tiles that move from “To Do” to “Done” to keep track of daily chores.
I could design a chore spinner with family members' names and tasks so everyone knows what to do each week in a fun way.
-
Homework & Studying
I could design a study planner board with movable tasks and deadlines so students can manage their time better. A mini whiteboard for reminders, or a desk tidy with space for pens, highlighters, and tech like chargers and headphones, would help keep the workspace organised. I could also make a compact folding book stand for revision. These ideas support focus and make studying feel more manageable.
