Planning and organisation
Entrepeneurs are responsible for turning an idea into a real event.
This includes choosing dates, locations, target audiences and schedules.
They must also plan on site facilities like toilets, as well as ticket sales.
Example: Glastonbury and Emily Eavis, often book artists and suppliers years in advance.
Financial managment
Budgeting for all costs: such as staff and security, and find ways to make this back such as through ticket sales
May also apply for funding or investment
Smaller festivals often rely on early bird sales to raise money for upfront costs.
Marketing and promotion
They must promote the event to attract ticket buyers and build excietement
Often done now through social media.
Example: Wireless festivaly use IG, Tiktok and youtube ads.
Artist and supplier managment
Negotiates contracts with performers, stage crews, lighting providers, security companies and caterers.
Must also keep artists happy so they want to return.
Logistics and operations
Includes getting the right permission from local councils, managing access to the site, and setting up equipment.
They must make sure everything works behind the scenes so the audience has a good time.
Innovation
Glastonbury's arcadia spider stage is a 50 tonne fire breathing structure made from recycled materials.
Risk taking
e.g. ticket sales may be low, weather might be bad, costs might go up unexpectedly

Network building: builds strong relationships with artists and fans and helps them secure better deals and grow the event.
