Topic A1: Digital Devices
Digital Device:
A digital device is an electronic device (first) that can receive/input (1), store (1), process (1) data and/ or transfer / output (1) digital information
Personal Computer (PC):
A general-purpose computing device small and cheap enough to be used by individuals.
-
Individual Processors:
Individual processors refer to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) within a computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing the primary computational tasks.
RAM (Random Access Memory):
A volatile form of data storage that allows for fast read and write operations, temporarily holding data and programs currently in use by the CPU.
CPU (Central Processing Unit):
Repeatedly reads or fetches instructions from memory and executes them. Brain of the PC.
HDD (Hard Disk Drive):
A disk drive that has one or more platters and a spindle. In contrast, USB flash drives use flash memory. Stored memory.
SSD (Solid State Drive:
The type of hard drive that has no moving part, so they are more efficient, run with no noise, emit little heat, and require little power. Stored memory.

Servers:
A powerful computer that provides resources, data, or services to other computers, known as clients, over a network.
Personal Computers:
General-purpose computing devices, such as desktops and laptops, that are small and affordable enough for individual use, typically for tasks like web Browse, email, and gaming.
Navigation Systems:
Digital devices that utilize GPS to determine current location and provide directions to a chosen destination, often including real-time traffic information.
Digital Cameras:
A device capable of capturing photos and videos and recording them as digital data, typically stored on a memory card.
Data Capture / Collection Systems:
Devices or methods that automatically input and store data without requiring direct manual entry via a keyboard.
Communication Devices and Systems:
Hardware that facilitates the transfer of data, whether analogue or digital, between two or more devices, enabling networking and internet connectivity.
