Assembly Models with Autodesk Fusion - Coggle Diagram
Assembly Models with Autodesk Fusion
Product Assembly
Process of combining parts to form a complete product. It’s crucial in industries for quality, cost-efficiency, and scalability. Key factors include accurate dimensions and tolerances. Everyday items like bikes or furniture also require assembly.
Digital Assembly using Autodesk Fusion
Autodesk Fusion lets designers simulate assembly to spot design flaws before production. Today, we’ll explore the Assembly Workspace, focusing on components and joints to build a 3D model.
Assembly Modelling
Combining multiple parts to form a complete product using CAD software, enabling collaboration to ensure the assembly functions correctly.
Sustainability
Smarter Product Design through Virtual Interfacing:
Digital testing helps spot fit or connection issues early, avoiding wasted materials from flawed physical prototypes.
Fewer Physical Prototypes Needed:
Virtual simulations reduce the need for physical prototypes, saving materials, energy, and costs.
More Efficient Manufacturing:
Virtual assemblies reduce production errors, minimize waste, speed up processes, and lower environmental impact.
How Assembly Modelling in CAD Works:
Start with a base component, then position and connect other parts using joints. In Fusion, parts and assemblies can be made in one file, unlike other CAD software that separates them.
Hands-on: Joints and 3D Assembly Model in Fusion:
Download the file "Assembly Handson.f3d" below
Launch Autodesk Fusion
Click “Open”, then “Open from my computer” (see image below)
Load in “Assembly Handson.f3d” which you have downloaded
The “Assembly Handson.f3d” is a partially completed assembly model (below image, left). We will create some joints to transform it into a complete model (below image, right).
