    - - Augustine helped here, sexual desire is caused by original sin. In genesis, after disobeying God, Adam and Eve cover in shame of their nakedness. Augustine believes that it is 'just' that we feel shame for our lust due to inability to control it
        
        This is universal, suggesting that sex is connected to God & therefore must be confined to marriage for the sole reason of having children. Anything else is giving into the depravity of original sin
        
        Secular society has become grossly oversexualised, with ads everyhwere proving this. This makes sex a meaningless act, unlike one that should occur within marriage. However, this might not prompt a return to medieval ideas and instead a cultural improvement may be required instead

        Aquinas would disagree – he would say that even though there’s disagreement there is still a core set of moral views all cultures share which is very similar to the primary precepts..
