Cloud computing allows users to upload personal files
Social media encourages you to post personal information
Controversial Issues
Censhorship
Some governments restrict access to gambling or pornography websites in order to protect children
They may even restrict foreign websites or social media platforms in strict situations
Surveillance
Governments use packet sniffers to monitor Internet traffic
In some countries ISPs (Internet Service Providers) keep records of all websites visited
Some people are against these two since they limit Internet activity but some agree with them since they restrict inappropriate websites
Well-Being
Technology can cause cyber-bullying
Companies ad's pressure people into buying them
Harmful Content=Issue
Cyberbullying, where somebody uses social media to bully someone
Trolling, where somebody tries to cause public arguements
Health
Too much screentime causes eyestrain
Sitting at computer too long can cause back pains
Fingers or wrists can be damaged by typing too much
Technology has shaped our culture by bringing unpopular people online and making them popular for their talent or sharing photos
Technology has also improved the business world (subscription services)
Digital Divide
Unequal access to technology
New technology is very expensive
Urban areas dont have access to technology
Older people dont know how to use technology
Environmental Issues
We make devices with natural resources
Plastics=Made from crude oil
Circuits=Made from copper, gold, silver
When we use devices we use a lot of electricity
All computers generate heat and need cooling=Increased usage of energy
When we throw away devices we create e-waste
E-waste cant be recycled mostly
