Life of Jacob
It started from Abraham and Sarah. They have son named Isaac, and Isaac wife was Rebecca.
Jacob was the son of Isaac and Rebekah,. He was born as the younger twin brother of Esau.
Known for his cunning nature, he secures Esau's birthright through deception (Genesis 25:29-34).
Marriage and Family
Jacob flees to Haran to escape Esau's wrath and meets Rachel at a well.
Falls in love with Rachel and agrees to work seven years for her hand in marriage (Genesis 29:1-20).
Deceived by Laban, he marries Leah first, then Rachel, and has children with their maidservants, Bilhah and Zilpah (Genesis 29:21-30:24).
What happened in Jacob's Life?
The Birth of the Twelve Tribes
Jacob's children include Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin.
Dinah was the only daughter of Leah and Jacob
Each son becomes the patriarch of the tribes of Israel (Genesis 29:31-30:24).
Jacob's Wealth and Departure from Laban
Jacob becomes prosperous through breeding livestock.
Eventually leaves Laban after 20 years, leading to a tense reunion with Esau (Genesis 30:25-31:55).
Jacob met the God
Jacob wrestles with a mysterious figure at Peniel.
Receives the name Israel, which means "he struggles with God" (Genesis 32:22-32).
Reunion with Esau
Jacob reconciles with Esau and they forgive each other. (Genesis 33:1-17).
Settling in Canaan
Jacob settles in Shechem and later moves to Bethel.
Renews his covenant with God (Genesis 35:1-15).
Joseph's Early Life
Favorite Son
Joseph, the firstborn of Rachel, is favored by Jacob.
Jacob gives him a richly ornamented coat (Genesis 37:3).
Dreams of Greatness
Joseph has prophetic dreams indicating he will one day rule over his family.
This angers and make his brothers jealous (Genesis 37:5-11).
What happened in Joseph's Life?
Betrayal by Brothers
Jealous of Joseph, his brothers plot to kill him.
Ultimately sell him into slavery in Egypt (Genesis 37:12-36).
Life in Egypt
Joseph serves in Potiphar's house and rises to a position of trust.
Is falsely accused of assault and imprisoned (Genesis 39:1-20).
Interpreting Dreams
In prison, Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker.
This leads to his eventual rise (Genesis 40:1-23).
Rise to Power
Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dreams, predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine.
Is appointed second-in-command over Egypt (Genesis 41:1-46).
Reunion with Family
During the famine, Jacob sends his sons to Egypt for grain.
Joseph tests their character before revealing his identity and brings his family to Egypt (Genesis 42-45).
Jacob's Journey to Egypt
Jacob, now Israel, travels to Egypt.
Reunited with Joseph and settles in the land of Goshen (Genesis 46:1-34).
Blessing of the Sons
Before his death, Jacob blesses his sons.
Adopts Joseph's sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, as his own (Genesis 48:1-22).
Death of Jacob
Jacob dies in Egypt.
Joseph fulfills his promise to bury him in Canaan (Genesis 49:1-33; 50:1-14).
Joseph's Legacy
Joseph reassures his brothers of his forgiveness.
Makes them promise to carry his bones back to Canaan when they leave Egypt (Genesis 50:15-26).
