Fragility
They are broken and stolen, symbolising the boys' descent into uncivilisation and their loss of structure/society and rational thought.

The glasses also represent fragility, as when Piggy doesn't have his glasses he cannot see.

Power
Jack and Piggys dynamic symbolises the fight for power with Jacks brute strength and confidence overpowers Piggys intelligence and rationality. Piggys dependance on his glasses signifies his weakness and Jacks destruction of them shows his dominance.
Jack calling them specs suggest they are just a tool rather than an important part of piggy. The phrase burning glasses shows Jack reducing him to the usefulness of his possession with no care to the consequence for piggy without being able to see.
The ability to create fire with the glasses becomes a source of power, influencing the dynamics and control among the boys.

Symbolism
As the two groups split Jacks group raids Ralphs camp for retrieve Piggy's specs, this symbolizes the decline of civilization and the rise of savagery.
Piggy's Glasses also represent in the beginning hope as it is what they use to light the fire. This is important as the fire gives the group hope of survival.

This is important as people who wear glasses in books, movies and any sort of entertainment as signified as a geeky character or as such a nerd. This is important because it helps describe the character and helps signify to the audience that Piggy is pretty nerdy.
