PULLEYS
FLIXED PULLEYS
A fixed pulley is a wheel that has a groove for a rope, chain or belt to go round it. It rotates around an axle that is fixed to an immobile surface
A fixed pulley is balanced when the effort, F, is equal to the load

Uses: wells, gym equipment
-
Moveable pulleys
-
-
-
The effort needed to move a load with a moveable pulley is half of the effort needed with a fixed pulley. This type of pulley means we can fifl weights with less effort
-
COMPOUND PULLEYS
This is a set of fixed and moeable pulleys, often called a block and tackle. If we use more pulleys it becomes more complex, but less effort is needed to move the load

-
Uses: in passenger lifts, goods lifts, cranes
A mechanism consisting of a rotating wheel with a grooved edge, over which a rope or chain slides, and that is used to move or lift heavy objects.
