B207 Module Conclusion: A reflective overview of mind mapping's effectiveness and future use.
Description
Mind mapping provides a structured way to summarise and collect complex information; I tried both hand-drawn maps and digital tools such as Coggle and preferred the hand-drawn maps for quickness but the digital maps for ascetics.
Evaluation
While there may be benefits like valued efficiency in combining studies from multiple sources and providing a visual summary, but It didn’t help me remember information any better. I often had to reread and write my mind maps in bullet points to properly understand the information.
Conclusion
Information organisation and summarisation have benefited from mind mapping, but I found it ineffective for my learning.
Future Use
Will make plans to use mind mapping in some variety of fields to improve learning and determine whether it would be beneficial.
Feelings
At first, I found the process very creative however after a while the process was frustrating. I frequently found that organising the layout took up more time than actually reading the content.
Coggle was often stressful and time-consuming, especially with word counts. It didn’t track words automatically, so I had to manually copy and paste into Word, adding unnecessary hassle.
Analysis
Although I realised the method improved problem-solving skills, it had no effect on my capacity for critical thought, I felt it distracted me more than it helped, however mind maps be useful for some learner.
Application
Though they did not promote deeper knowledge however sometimes the connections between concepts became clearer to understand.
Action Plan
I am going to limit the use mind maps now. Rather, I will concentrate on organised note-taking techniques like linear outlines and annotated readings that better suit my learning preferences.
Goals
Aim to refine skills, making each map more effective and less visually appealing.
