Topographic changes of uterus
Remnants of paramesonephric ducts due to a distrubance dvlpM
Paramesonephric ducts : embryonar structures that develop into Fallopian horns, uterus, cervix and superior 1/3 of the vagina in females or regress in males (cause of AMH hormone)
Disturbance in any stage of their mise en place (proper dvlpM of the ducts → fusion in midline → resorbtion of septum)
Fetus might be able to implant in only one horn
Asymmetric pregnancies, D fertility
Barrier to fetus birth
Persistant septum, double cervix or septum btw uterus and vagina create a physical barrier →obstructed labor
Episio or manual rupture of septum
Cervical canal has 2 openings with a bifurcation and 2 cervixes
Foetus can have one leg in each canal
Correct foetal position or use C-section
Uterus torsion
Mostly : Buffaloes > cattle (Brown Swiss and Holstein) > others
sow, bitch and queen: usually of a single uterine horn or a part of horn
other species: the entire uterus rotates along its longitudinal axis
Cattle + buffalo
Complication of late 1st stage or early 2nd of labor, more rare after 2nd stage of PP period
Most common
Dystocia
Ventral hernia
Downward deviation of porcine uterus
Retroflexion of mare's uterus
Inguinal hernia in bitch
