Should animals be used for scientific tests?
Hook
“It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an (animal).”
— Joaquin Phoenix
"Saving one animal will not change the world, but for that animal, the world will be changed."
-Karen Davison
Every year in the US over 110 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused during scientific tests
Specialized Info
Many animals are subjected to painful and stressful procedures during experiments. Some even die.
It violates animals rights when we use them for scientific tests
Scientists have been injecting snake venom into horses to try and find an antidote, causing many horse deaths
Albert II, a monkey, was the first living thing on the moon, but unfortunately didn't make it back
History & Background
Used in ancient Greese
Some mice are given a chemical daily to see if it causes cancer
The first living thing from earth that went on the moon was a monkey, so that scientists could make sure that spaceships were safe
Started in 500 BC
Thesis
Animals should not be used for scientific tests because it violates their rights as living things that God created.
:
People do actually volunteer for testing, meanwhile animals are just captured and used.
Animals can't tell us if they want to be used for scientific testing for organisms that aren't even your own species(would a monkey want to volunteer to be tested in place of a human?)
Animals might react differently than humans to some treatments
Zooniverse allows people to volunteer
Many animals are subjected to painful and stressful procedures during experiments, and many even die
They trap alligators and drill holes into their skulls
Tried to clone monkeys and now they have permanent mental health problems
TESTS GO WRONG!
Took Dogs and pulled their teeth out and cut their gums, causing deaths of mans best friends
Captured mother octopus and her babies for drug testing, most babies died. They were isolated in small tanks for a long time.
:
Testing on animals is wasting their lives, causing lots of deaths, which leads to endangered species, which leads to extinction
Mice and rats are the most used animals for scientific tests, and many have died. if this keeps up, mice could go extinct
long-tailed macaques and pig-tailed macaques are now endangered due to lots of scientific testing
