Aquainted with the night

I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
ENJAMBENT:the continuation of a sentence from one line to another without a pause it is used to create a natural flowand mimic the act of walking past the watchman
IMAGERY: frost uses imagery to create a picture of "passing the watchman" and "dropping eyes" to show a sense of shame and avoidance as he knows what he is doing is weird and out of place
THEME
THEME/MESSAGE: Isolation and lonliness frost walking alone at nighthas a sense of detatchment. in my opinion frost was depressed prior to the writing of this poem frost proposed to his girlfriend but was declined. i feel this gave him as sence of lonliness as he thought she understood him but to him a deep conection was lost. the loeliness of his life has become a routine in his life

Badh by maurice riordan
"we same the same tangy woodland smell, the same malt pale October sunlight"
SIBILANCE: sibilance is used to make the line stick out he is very aware of his surroundings however this smell sticks out to him,its famillar. he uses the "smell" to show how him and the crow are so alike both spending their afternoon alone in the woods without company, so to have this allmost human interaction was unexpecting and comforting
-
"I was walking where the woods begin.. when i came upon a crow sitting there, so close i could have touched her with a stick"
CACOPHONY: cacophony is used upon the crows arrival as it shocks him because he has never been so close to a wild animal before and it completely fascinates him so he stops walking
ALLITERATION: the peot uses alliterationt o convey how he is comfortable walking in the woods it set a rythem almost as if each w is a step he is taking
THEME
NATURE:the poem shows how nature is both beautiful yet horrifying he shows this by the human being facinated by the crow in its natural habitatand being taken aback by the birds reaction to seeing hi, as at some some level him and the crow were the same "she held me off with a look, eyes above the gorping mouth"shows how quickly the beauty of natur, of the world can change with just one same movement
