what are the benefits to the policy to locals?
since the policy helps china's population decrease then healthcare and education increase.
Because if the country was over populated there wouldn't be enough medicine for everyone and hospitals and schools would be crowded.
What are the unintended effects of the policy?
The policy caused gender imbalance in china meaning more boys than girls were being born since china prioritise boys over girls
because people preferred boys there were over 200 million abortions mostly female.
females who were born got sent to orphanages.
Families who have like two boys give one of them away to a family with no child
What are the consequences if you don't follow the policy?
If you don't follow the policy you could end up in jail or get high fines
If you decide not to follow the policy females would have to forcefully abort their baby.
Not following the policy could lead you to be a non member of the state
Why does China need the policy?
China has 1.3 billion people so to avoid overpopulation they needed to control the population growth with the one child policy
China also needed the policy to avoid poverty because overpopulation can lead to poverty by not enough jobs for all the people or not enough space fir everyone or not enough stuff for everyone.
What are future issues for china?
The policy can cause population imbalance for china
The policy creates 'little princes' in other words parents will spoil and favor their male child.Which means the child will grow up spoiled.
The country creates cultural problems for the people.
An example of cultural problem's would be that traditionally multiple children take the responsibility to care for their parents as they grow older.However with less children all the responsibility falls onto the child causing stress and less quality of care.
How could we solve these issues?
We could solve the issues that come with the one child policy by coming up with new strategies or family planning.
The government can tighten the abortion laws to reduce the amount of abortion happening in the country.
